Apprenticeship Program: Apprentice Benefits:
Application Requirements. You must:
Selection of apprentices shall be on the basis of qualifications alone, without regard to race, creed, color, national origin or gender. General Information on the Apprenticeship: ·
Length of Training - The term of the IUOE 925 Apprenticeship is a
minimum of four (4) years and 8,000 hours. ·
Type of Training - Applicants selected will receive a combination of
on-the-job training while assigned to employers, and related instruction
classes (minimum of 144 hours each year) at the union hall. ·
Pay Rates - The hourly rates for apprentices are calculated
as a percentage of the Operator Base Rate for the agreement that the
apprentice is working under. The three year apprenticeship program is broken
down into three pay rates. First year apprentices earn 60% of the Operator
Base Rate. Second year apprentices earn 70% third year apprentices earn 80%
and fourth year apprentices earn 90%. With satisfactory progress in their
on-the-job training and attendance of classes, apprentices will receive their
elevations on an annual basis.. ·
Fringe Benefits - Apprentices become eligible for the benefits of
Operating Engineers Local 925 Pension and Health Insurance after establishing
basic eligibility. Contributions are made by the employers on behalf of the
Apprentice to the Operating Engineers Fringe Benefit Funds. Apprentices
receive pension contributions of $1.00/hour. ·
Termination - Apprenticeship Agreements will be terminated at
any time for cause; including, but not limited to: Misconduct on the job or
at training classes, failure to report to a job assignment, failure to attend
classes, absences from the job and unsatisfactory work performance, and drug
or alcohol abuse.
